Kendu In-Store Visual Solutions has launched into the Asia-Pacific market, opening a new sales office and showroom in Singapore. With over 20 years of experience of designing and manufacturing turnkey in-store visual communications solutions for the retail sector, Kendu’s new APAC branch will be led by experienced entrepreneur and business development professional, Javier Hernandez.
With over 25% of the world’s Top 250 retail companies located in the APAC and sharing almost 16% of total global revenue, Singapore provides Kendu with a geostrategic location to enter into the region’s strong retail market. The APAC offices will provide face-to-face sales, locally based customer support and strategic marketing activities, all tailored to the region and backed by an APAC business strategy.
“This is an exciting time for Kendu as we position ourselves in a new market backed by almost 20 years of experience in the retail sector in both Europe and the US. In a region where speed, ubiquity and local knowledge is key, Javier’s 12 years of experience in technology, marketing, and online retail combined with his strong network across India, Asia and Australia, is essential to growing Kendu’s international presence in Singapore and across the APAC region as a whole,” states Álvaro Cabrera, CEO of Kendu.
Hernandez has vast experience in building companies and leading teams in both APAC and Europe. His previous experience in region includes investing and setting up the operations for two leading start-ups in Singapore thus he understands the challenges that the region’s retailers face on adopting an offline and online strategy. Prior to his appointment of Managing Director APAC at Kendu, Hernandez was Director of Sales and Business Development at Lokku where he was responsible for defining the global commercial and marketing strategies and maintaining partnerships with over 150 portals in Europe, Brazil, India and Australia. “I am excited to lead Kendu in its next chapter of global growth bridging a strategic gateway between East and West from our APAC offices in Singapore. As a company, Kendu is continuously developing the most innovative, creative and technologically advanced products, such as the award-winning dynamic display Flowbox, offering brands an advantage in a very competitive retail environment, “comments Hernandez.
Since opening in Singapore, Kendu has worked with luxury fashion label, Off-WhiteTM, designing and installing a large-format lightbox and precision perfect textile for their new store in the Paragon Shopping Centre. Hernandez is also a featured speaker at Retail InnoSpace on October 18th. Run by iDA Singapore, the one-day event is an interactive space to discover retail technology first-hand including Kendu’s new and improved Flowbox.
Exclusive to Kendu, Flowbox is the new generation of dynamic displays that combines highquality printed visuals with surprising animation effects thanks to LED plates which are powered by a ready-to-play SD card. The dynamic display offers infinite creative options from tonal variation to colour changes and even animation. New to 2019, the improved version is easier than ever to set up and includes a range of inspiring new display features.
Since launching, Flowbox has won more than 13 international product design and innovation awards including “Best in Competition” at the GlobalShop Product Design Competition, “Best Store Solution & Design” at the Paris Retail Awards, “Best in Competition” at Fespa Spain’s Ramón Sayans Awards and was a “Product of The Year” finalist at the FX Awards.
