Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore with the Irish Chamber of Commerce, Singapore celebrated a very special cross-chamber event: 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.
It was an unforgettable evening where we had the opportunity to taste 10 Spanish wines from 6 different producers, all thanks to WEA Wines:
- Bodega Cerrón, which works the entire vineyard in Organic with some plots in Biodynamic, seeking to achieve more vertical and expressive wines.
- Casa Castillo single-vineyard reds stand out not only for their quality but are also among the greatest terroir-based wines in Spain
- José Gil: Named "Young Winemaker of the Year" in 2021, José is one of the most promising winemakers in Spain. And since he works in a fairly classic appellation, La Rioja, his "Burgundian" approach to wine is certainly innovative.
- Viticola Mentridana “The Grapes of Wrath” wine is made from old-vine Garnacha sourced from four different sites near the village of El Real de San Vicente. This is miles away from the typical concentrated style many people associate with the grape. Rather, it is lifted and elegant, with savoury yet fresh red fruit, spice, and dry, chalky tannins.
- Veronica Ortega, a young winemaker who has been living in Bierzo, in northwestern Spain, for just over 3 years. A rising star in the region's wine industry.
- Nanclares y Prieto: Alberto Nanclares and Silvia Prieto make transparent, Atlantic-influenced wines, mainly with Albariño from old vines around the town of Cambados. Thanks to organic farming and the sobriety of their winery work, they have achieved something very rare: refining the Albariño to obtain angular, age-worthy wines that express the fascinating terroirs of Cambados and Rías Baixas.
In addition to the wine tasting, delicious canapés were served.
